Find DUI Checkpoints in Nevada CA

There hasn’t been a sobriety checkpoint in Nevada County in recent memory. But one is scheduled for tonight (Thurs.) in an unincorporated area. And this will be the only one of the year that’s being conducted by the Grass Valley office of the California Highway Patrol. Lieutenant Noah Hawkins says although they get DUI grants every year and they normally use the money for other enforcement and educational efforts, due to staffing limitations. But they recently also received some funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety…

Hawkins says the other ruling now requires that the exact location of a checkpoint be revealed at least two hours ahead of time. It’s set up on Highway 174, between Clark and Henderson Streets. The checkpoint is from 6 this evening until 2am on Friday.

The Grass Valley CHP will conduct a sobriety/driver license checkpoint on Thursday August 1, 2024 in an unincorporated area of Nevada County. The sobriety/driver license checkpoint will be operational from 6 p.m to 2 a.m. and the exact location will be announced two hours prior to the operation, in accordance with a California Supreme Court ruling. During the checkpoint, officers will aggressively seek individuals who choose to drive unlicensed or intoxicated. CHP’s goal is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is high frequency of impaired driving-related arrests and traffic crashes. A sobriety checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations.
